Synergy Marine Group and iCALL Psychosocial Helpline collaborated to conduct a one-day training on ‘Understanding and Addressing Well-being Related Concerns’ for Seafarers on the 24th of June, 2019 at TISS. The objective of the training held was to create a network of first responders on board who can identify and respond to signs of emotional distress and suicidality among seafarers and encourage them to seek professional help. The training also aimed at creating awareness about issues faced by women seafarers on board and understanding how seafaring can become more gender inclusive as a profession. The session was inaugurated by Mr Amitabh Kumar, Director General- Shipping and Capt. Rajesh Unni, CEO, Synergy Marine Group. Seafarers from Synergy Marine Group, BW Maritime, GEM Shipping, Wilhelmsen and Molta feet attended the training.
